Medical Gases Safety Training

This training course combines classroom & practical demonstration.  Covering the safe use, handling, storage & transportation of medical oxygen & other medical gases, supporting the training obligations of NHS HTM 02-01 Part B. 

The course covers the safety training requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act and BCGA Codes of Practice. Highlighting the specific hazards associated with these commonly used gases such as oxygen enrichment/deficiency, flammability, reactions with oils & greases, regulator changing etc.

Attendance gives staff information to understand the specific hazards associated with medical gases such as medical oxygen resulting in an assured workforce and a safer workplace.

Who is the course for?

The safe use and handling of medical gases, chiefly oxygen, nitrous oxide and nitrous oxide & oxygen (Entonox) used in medical applications.

Certification

This training is nationally accredited by EAL & provides 3 CPD learning hours.

Classroom Session 2 hours

Interactive training on Medical Gases with topics including:
Fire hazards of Oxygen enrichment
Gas properties & hazards
Identification & cylinder preparation
Regulator fitting
Leak testing
Regulator removal
Faulty cylinder procedure
Manual handling techniques
Connecting cylinders & manual handling

Practical Session allow approximately 1 hour

Learners will be given the opportunity to undertake:
Before-use checks including leak checking
Regulator fitting
Manual handing of cylinders
