Who is the course for?

Training is typically attended by service engineers, gas agents & distributors carrying out the annual inspection of 3rd party oxy-fuel gas equipment.

Re validation is required after a period of 3 years.

Certification

This training is nationally accredited by EAL.ย On successful completion learners will receive a Level 3 qualification in Oxy-Fuel Gas Equipment Inspection.

The Oxy-Fuel Gas Equipment Inspection Level 3 Award is the the highest level of achievement available for compressed gas safety training in the UK - only available from PGS.

Requirements

BCGA CP7 states: Annual maintenance of oxy-acetylene/propane equipment shall be carried out by a person who has been formally trained to demonstrate:

    • Sufficient practical experience of related gas equipment
    • Theoretical knowledge of the functioning of the equipment, the properties of gases used, the potential defects and hazards which may occur and their importance to the integrity and safety of the equipment.

Classroom Session

Interactive training on oxy-fuel gases safety and equipment with topics including:
Operator behaviours
Flashback arrestors
Non-return valves
Emergency procedures
PPE

Practical Session

Learners will be given the opportunity to undertake:
Before-use checks including leak checking
Regulator fitting
Manual handing of cylinders
Correct light-up & shut-down procedures
Fault finding and full annual inspection procedures
