Medical Gases Safety Training

This course combines classroom & practical instruction.  Covering the safe use, handling, storage & transportation of medical oxygen & other medical gases.


The course includes safety requirements from the Health & Safety at Work Act and BCGA Codes of Practice.
It highlights specific hazards  such as oxygen enrichment/deficiency, flammability, reactions with oils & greases.

Who is the course for?

Nurses, porters & ancillary staff using or coming into contact with medical gases

Certification

Certificates are valid for 3 years, after which a refresher course is recommended.
Proactive Gas Safety LTD are a recognised centre of the awarding organisation EAL.
This course is equivalent to 3 CPD learning hours.

Classroom Session 2 hours

Interactive training on Medical Gases with topics including:
Fire hazards of Oxygen enrichment
Gas properties & hazards
Identification & cylinder preparation
Regulator fitting
Leak testing
Regulator removal
Faulty cylinder procedure
Manual handling techniques
Connecting cylinders & manual handling

Practical Session allow approximately 1 hour

Learners will be given the opportunity to undertake:
Before-use checks including leak checking
Regulator fitting
Manual handing of cylinders
