Oxy-Acetylene/Propane Annual Inspection CP7 Module

Only available in addition to Oxy-acetylene/Propane Gas User course

Who is the course for:

Delegates must have attended the oxy-fuel gas user course prior to attending.  This module is suitable only for operators who are experienced in the safe use & handling of the gases and associated equipment.

All delegates will perform a full inspection using the PGS Inspection Manual and Checklist


This training is nationally accredited by EAL & provides 7 CPD learning hours. You can choose to upgrade to a Level 3 QCF qualification (enquire at time of booking)

Why training:

Completion of this course demonstrates delegates  have received guidance and information which allows them to inspect oxy-acetylene/propane gas equipment in line with the requirements from BCGA CP7

BCGA CP7 states: Annual maintenance of oxy-acetylene/propane equipment shall be carried out by a person who has been formally trained to demonstrate:

  • Sufficient practical experience of related gas equipment
  • Theoretical knowledge of the functioning of the equipment, the properties of gases used, the potential defects and hazards which may occur and their importance to the integrity and safety of the equipment.

Certification is available as a Nationally Accredited QCF Level 3 qualification.

Awarded by EAL the Level 3 QCF is the the highest level of achievement available for compressed gas safety training in the UK -only available from PGS.

What’s included?

Practical Session 3 hours

Learners will undertake:

  • Full oxy-fuel inspection using the PGS Annual Inspection Manual and check lists

  • Before-use checks including leak checking
  • Regulator fitting
  • Manual handing of cylinders
  • Correct light-up & shut-down procedure

Each Learner Receives:

  • Accredited Certification and Passport Card valid for 3 years – (Optional upgrade to QCF qualification)
  • Supporting documentation – Safe light-up and shut-down procedures & Inspection checklist
  • Access to 3 year technical support

Management Receives:

  • Inspection Test Kit RRP £120

  • Detailed feedback on delegate performance for inclusion in company training records
  • A summary of learner opinions of training
  • Relevant updates on gas legislation

NOTE: Gas distributors testing other company’s oxy-fuel equipment must attend the 2-day Gas Inspection Workshop
