Scilabub’s Frosters Extreme Cryogenic Gloves have been specially developed to protect against cold and contact burns in heavier duty applications such as working with cryogenic valves, pipelines & hoses and in the filling of cylinders and tanks with cryogens.

Used in the transportation, delivery and handling of cryogenic equipment as well as gases such as Liquid Nitrogen (LN2, LN, or LIN -195.8 °C) Liquid Oxygen (LOX -183°C) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG -162°C). They are ideal for many industries including LNG facilities, oil and Gas, Mining, Aerospace and Cryogenic Equipment / Systems Servicing.

Other applications Including handling objects stored in the vapour phase of liquid nitrogen (ranging from -120 °C to -190 °C) and in other cold situations such as with freezers, cold rooms, ‘dry ice’ and microtomes. Designed for heavier duty operations, Frosters Extreme are long gloves that extend well beyond the wrist and are designed to maintain finger and thumb dexterity for operating valves and similar equipment. The outer layer, of black, woven polyamide, has a waterproof coating to resist condensed water on cold surfaces. For additional protection an extremely thin yet durable state of the art membrane is incorporated into the glove to prevent ingress of liquids.

The insulation layer is made of a special polyolefin/polyester micro-fibre, which is almost twice as effective in thermal insulation as a similar thickness of down. This minimises thermal transfer without being so thick as to be excessively cumbersome. The inner layer is of breathable cotton for comfortable wear.

Frosters Extreme are currently available in two hand sizes: Medium (9) and Large (10) and in three lengths: wrist (30cm), mid-arm (37cm) and elbow (50cm).

Gloves are made in accordance with EN ISO 21420:2020 and have been tested to EN388 and EN511. They meet the criteria for CE and UKCA marking (in accordance with EU REGULATION: 2016/425). Further information can be found within the technical digest.

The gloves are Category III which means that they protect against risks that may cause very serious consequences such as death or irreversible damage to health.

The gloves should not be immersed in liquid nitrogen or in any other cryogenic liquid.
